Debra Bolen, born and raised in Salisbury, Maryland area, was blessed to have been introduced to Christ at a very young age. Her Christian heritage from both her parents and grandparents grounded her in Christ. Debra has been active in Christian ministry (Sunday School teacher, Missionettes leader (now Mpact), youth leader, and outreaches) from a teenager.
Debra attended and graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy and a Master’s Degree in Education. God has taken her love of teaching and blessed her with a journey from collegiate professor to homeschool mom to teaching children within the church.
Now, as director of The Uprising Kids Nursery Ministry for 8 years, her heart is to see our youngest members of the church experience Jesus and His love. She oversees the operations of the Nursery on Sunday mornings, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and during special services. Toddlers are her favorite age group to teach – seeing them experience God’s word with songs, Bible stories, and activities. Debra’s desire to see all children know and feel God’s love at an early age. On Sundays, Debra also directs the electronic registration process for our Uprising families and visitors. Being an Mpact girls’ club leader is a special blessing to Debra each Tuesday night. Although not part of her Nursery Ministry responsibilities, she enjoys giving back to this wonderful program that she also grew up with in church from the age of 6 through high school.
Being a wife and mom, is one of Debra’s most rewarding jobs. Debra and her husband, David married in May 1994. They are blessed with two wonderful children: Daniel 16 years and Hannah 9 years.
Her favorite life verse is: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
