News of Jesus’ teachings and miracles spread quickly through the region. Even Roman officers took notice and believed in what Jesus could do. In Matthew 8, we read the story of a centurion who asks Jesus for help for his servant who was paralyzed and in terrible suffering. Jesus is willing to go to the suffering servant but the centurion replied, “No just say the word and he will be healed.”
Jesus is astonished by this man’s faith and tells the centurion, “It will be done just as you believed it would.”
How many people in our families, work place, or friend circle are paralyzed with anxiety, fear, worry, depression, despair? How many people in our families, work place, or friend circle suffer terribly with sickness, or with such grief from the loss of loved one?
Scripture tells us that we are to carry each other’s burdens. (Gal.6:2). James 5:13-15 says; “Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray (go talk to Jesus). Is anyone among you sick? He should call the leaders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. The requests of the righteous are POWERFUL and EFFECTIVE.”
Today, ask for the kind of faith the centurion had. Be intentional about coming before the Lord during this fast with those you know that are broken and suffering and say to the man Christ Jesus, “JUST SAY THE WORD and it will be done.”
Verse 15 says; “And his servant was healed that very hour.” What if your request of faith was the only thing separating the sick in body and spirit from being healed this very hour?
