“NEXT” January 20
Day 14 “Stay the Course”
“So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in obedience to all that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” – Deuteronomy 5:32-33 NIV
From before your conception – God had a plan for you. He designed you, exactly the way He wanted you. The color of your hair, your eyes, how tall you would be – it was all His design. He chose which family you would be born into, He knew what environment you would need to grow up in for you to achieve the purposes He has for you. He watched you as you played in your backyard. He saw the times kids would pick on you and the times when you would take up for others. He saw your first crush and He heard you cry when your heart was broken. He saw you get excited about the dreams He placed on your heart and how crushed you were when others didn’t believe in them. He’s been there through every happy and sad time. He has brought you to this place of “Next”.
God has been wooing you and calling you from your mother’s womb. He couldn’t wait for your arrival! He’s been showing up in many different ways trying to show you His love for you. You see it in the sunrise and in the sunset. In the butterfly that brushes your shoulder as it flutters by. In the beauty of His creation that He expresses just for you. But the enemy tries to distract us and make us believe that God wants anything but good for us. It is his desire to cause us to see God in a different light and for us to believe that the evil we see is because of God. He wants us to blame God for our circumstances and cause us to turn from God and off of the path He has for us. But God has better plans for us. “The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life — life in all its fullness.” John 10:10
When you remain steadfast and keep your eyes on Jesus, nothing can take you off the path God has for you. You may have to endure hard times but God is faithful. Life is full of loss, grief, betrayal, hardships and let downs but it is also full of beauty, joy, growth, new beginnings and dreams achieved. When you walk in obedience to God in the toughest times, He will be faithful to bring to pass the plans that He has for your life. Hold onto the hem of His garment and allow Him to lead you. His plans are so much better that you can even imagine!
